Created for a charity exhibition at UCL, The Lottery of Birth reflects on the arbitrary circumstances of our origins and the profound impact they have on our lives. The piece portrays a surreal and dramatic figure dragging some children while managing to support others. They represent the crude arbitrariness of life and the privileges we inherit without any particular merit at birth. The textured background and acid tones evoke the harshness of this universal yet deeply personal reality.
